Silent Valley National Park



Placed in Nilgiri Hills in Palakkad district in Kerala established as National Park in 1984. It is commonly named as Sairndhrivanam and the main attraction here is the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. The park which is inaccessible has hard topography and is enclosed with Attappadi Reserve Forests in the east, and vested forests of the Palghat and Nilambur divisions in the west and south.

Silent Valley Park is rich in its flora and fauna. The fauna here includes around 100 species of butterflies, 400 species of moths, Ceylon Frogmouth, Great Indian Hornbill, the Nilgiri Laughing Thrush, the giant Malabar squirrel, Nilgiri langur, the lion-tailed Macaque, elephant, tiger, leopard, wild bear, sambar.

The places you can visit close to Silent Valley National Park are Parambikulam, Choolanur Peacock Sanctuary, Attapadi or mountain valley and some hill stations like Coonoor, Palakkad. Located just 310 kms away from Bangalore, you could feel in the lap of nature.
