Periyar also houses an elusive Nilgiri tahr which is rarely found, the lion tailed macaque, nilgiri langur, common langur and bonnet macaque. Lot of birds are also found here at Periyar, one can also encounter a python and sometimes even a King Cobra. Other attractions in periyar are Kumily, cardamom hills and Boat cruises. For wildlife sightings the chances of sightings after rains is little low as heavy rains.
