Manas National Park



Placed in the North East India is the Manas National Park is rich with its diversity in flora and fauna. It is one of the natural world heritage site, a project tiger reserve, elephant reserve and a biosphere reserve in Assam. Manas name is originates from Manas river which is in turn originated from the serpent goddess Manasa.

The sanctuary as i said is blessed with very rich flora and fauna, the park includes lot of common trees. The National Park is famous for its exceptional and scarce endemic wildlife such as the Assam Roofed Turtle, Hispid Hare, Golden Rule and Pygmy Hog. In total it’s considered to have 55 species mammals, 380 species of birds which includes Asian Elephants, Rhinoceros, Gaurs, Barasingha, Tigers, Leopards, Sloth Bears, Barking Deer, Sambar and Chital. This National Park can be explored like any other park in India throught Jeep safari also to watch night life one can use Binoculars. Elephant safari and boating are also few other options available.

This park is closed during monsoons as it rains very heavily here and wildlife can be sighted only between November and April. The nearest airport is Gopinath Bordoloi in Guwahati and Rail connectivity would be through Barpeta road.
