Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary



Located in the southeast part of Kannur District, in Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary. It is considered as the most protected area of Kerala State. Zone wise it is considered to be in North West slopes of Western Ghats adjoining with the forests of coorg district of Karnataka. Aralam is also known for the Central State Farm, which produces hybrid coconut seeds and one of the main production centers in the country.

It is considered to be covered with tropical and evergreen forests it is the home to a vast variety of flora and fauna endemic to the Western Ghats. Different kinds of deer, boar, bison and elephant fall under a common category. Leopard and jungle cat are also sighted at Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary. Varieties of fauna are also found here it’s always dense lush green all round the year.

One can reach Aralam Widlife Sanctuary very easily by road. It is 500 kms from Bangalore and the nearest Railway Junction is Thalasseri and the nearest Airport is Kozhikkod. October to June is the mostly likely time to visit Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary.
