Shivanasamudram



Located in Mandya district a small town known as Shivansamudra and the falls very well known as Shivanasamudram Falls is probably the largest falls after jog Falls in Karnataka. Its located on the Kaveri river and this town(island town) divides the river into twin waterfalls. They are known as Bharachukki and Gaganachukki falls and this creates the fourth largest island in the rivers course.

Shivansamudra is about 120kms to the east of Mysore. The waterfalls cascades down the deep rocky gore and makes it breathtakingly beautiful. Its a famous picnic spot as its very pleasant and lovely one. People looking out for much needed break from their hectic schedule and hanky-panky life can definitely bang onto Shivanasamudram Falls.

This place is also a host for the first hydroelectric project in India. Its also listed among top 100 waterfalls globally. Reaching Shivanasamudram from Bangalore the route should be via Mysore road or Kanakpura road. The roads are not very good so one travelling should plan to leave early and may require 3 hours to reach the spot.
